Space Hippie

10th November 2020

Space Hippie – A short animation by Sarah Atkinson.

This short animation showcases the innovative trash transforming Nike Space Hippie 01 trainer. Made from at least 50% recycled materials including scrap material from factory floors and recycled plastics. The circular design of this trainer is a step in the right direction towards their zero carbon and zero waste journey!

Meet Sarah Atkinson, an artistanimator, film makerset designer, up-cycler

I first met Sarah while working on Freshrb‘s Silent Elephant Project short film ‘In Their Eyes’. Sarah was a producer, storyboard artist and set designer for the project. Since graduating from the Manchester Metropolitan University, Sarah has been developing her skills as a visual artist, creating abstract animations, collages and illustrations alongside visible mending and up-cycling projects under the alias 3hand.

When Sarah decided to inject some sound in to one of her short animations, I jumped at the opportunity for us to work together again.

So, here’s Space Hippie, a short animation about a trainer. ▾

▴ The sound effects were created using a collection of Teenage Engineering‘s Pocket Operators, a handful of trainers, a seat belt and a metal slinky.

Musical noodlings composed using Jack Davenport‘s (@10secondbeats) Kits & Keys Vol 1.
